San José, 92 Dwellings
In the plot an uncompleted building, whom work stopped during the construction of the structures, is located not far from Playa de la Victoria in Cádiz. Between the residence and the beach, there is the ancient cemetery of San José, a necropolis under dismantlement, where the last funeral was celebrated in 1992. An urban park, 400 m long, will substitute it, leaving the residence in the first line of the buildings facing the beach.
First intervention proposal was too conservative and academic in shapes, without any respect of the circumstances that the architectural program of this residence complex involved. The existent structure is developed providing a new look to the place where it raises.
The project tries to give fluidity and permeability to the building, in private and public spaces, connecting physically and visually the outside with the internal courtyard and the internal with the external rooms of the flats. Sinuous curves give the front a singular aesthetic image and homogenize the façade that it would be fragmented because of the various architectural program.
